CONTINENCE ASSESSMENT
Personalized Continence Care with
Compassion and Expertise

What is a Continence Assessment?
A Continence Assessment with NurseCare Australia is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by our team of healthcare professionals to understand and address issues related to bladder and bowel control. Our assessment involves a detailed review of your medical history, lifestyle, and symptoms to identify the underlying causes of continence issues. We conduct physical examinations and, if necessary, recommend additional tests. Our goal is to develop a personalized care plan that may include lifestyle changes, exercises, medical interventions, or other supportive measures to help manage and improve your continence, enhancing your quality of life and independence with the compassionate care you expect from NurseCare Australia.
What Happens During a Continence Assessment
NurseCare Australia continence assessments generally take about 1.5 hours to complete. During your appointment, our continence nurse will strive to identify the cause of your incontinence by doing the procedures below.
1. Initial Consultation
The nurse conducts a detailed discussion with the participant to gather information about their medical history, lifestyle, and specific continence issues.
2. Symptom Review
The nurse reviews the participant’s symptoms, including frequency, urgency, and any associated discomfort or complications.
3. Physical Examination
A thorough physical examination may be performed to assess the participant’s overall health and identify any physical factors affecting continence.
4. Functional Assessment
The nurse evaluates the participant’s daily activities and routines to understand how continence issues impact their quality of life.
5. Additional Testing
If needed, the nurse may recommend further tests or assessments to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the participant’s condition.
6. Care Plan Development
Based on the assessment, the nurse creates a personalized care plan, which may include lifestyle recommendations, exercises, or medical interventions.
7. Product Recommendation
Suitable continence products are recommended, and a quotation is provided.
8. Follow-Up
The nurse may schedule follow-up visits or check-ins to monitor progress and make adjustments to the care plan as needed.
